An Aviation Innovation Expo that will attract at least 80 aviation technology innovators and producers will be held from 24-28 October this year in Addis Ababa.
Transport and Logistics State Minister Dengie Boru, and Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Director-General Getachew Mengistie briefed the media today about the expo to be held under the theme “Innovation for Aviation Excellence” at the Science Museum in the capital.
Airlines companies, manufacturers of airplane and aviation related technologies, as well as domestic and foreign aviation service business establishments among others are expected to participate at the five days expo.
Innovators drawn from around the country will also partake at the expo that includes various events such as technological innovation competition.
The Aviation Innovation expo, which will be accompanied with various important events, is aimed to encourage homegrown technology innovation to the aviation sector and to create favorable condition for innovator-industry linkages.
The state minister said efforts are underway to enhance the efficiency of the aviation sector and make Ethiopia a center of aviation hub.
The first of its kind expo in Ethiopia is intended to encourage and support innovators, experts and organizations in the aviation sector.
The director-general stated that a number of important events will be held during the expo to share knowledge, encourage and support stakeholders in the aviation sector.
Besides holding a symposium for experience exchange, agreement will also be reached with local stakeholder institutions to establish an Aviation Innovation Center to provide institutional support, he pointed out.
The expo is organized by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority in collaboration with Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Ethiopian Airlines Group, Ethiopian Airforce, Information Network Security Administration (INSA), Institute of National Artificial Intelligence and Space Science and Geospatial Institute.
