Bodi district health directorate gets risk communication and community engagement committee 


The Sefwi -Bodi District Health Directorate of the Ghana Heath Service has inaugurated a 24-member Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) committee to help address health emergency cases in the Bodi District of the Western North Region.?



In his inaugural address, Mr. Paul Noah Quam, the District Director of Health Services, appealed to members of the committee to be committed in dealing with issues of health because there was a lot of misinformation and disinformation in the system especially on health issues.?



Mr. Quam urged the Committee to regularly engage the communities to educate, inform and sensitize them on issues related to health, especially on immunisations and vaccinations which he noted usually recorded some disinformation and misinformation.



? ‘People always have different opinions, when it comes to vaccinations and immunisations be it religious or cultural and these are some of the areas you need to tackle or deal with as a Risk communication and Community Engagement (RCCR) committee, ‘he said.?



Mr Quam announced that the region had recorded two MPOX cases and advised the people to visit health facilities immediately they detected any rash on their bodies, this he noted would curb the spread of the disease.



Mr Seth Adjei a senior fellow at the Department of Public health also appealed to the committee members to meet regularly to enable them prepare adequately for any health emergency



Members of the committee comprise of, Ghana Heath service, Ghana Police service, Ghana Immigration Service. Ghana Ambulance service, Ghana Education service, the Clergy, the Media, NCCE. the District Assembly, Environmental Health department, Traditional authorities, NADMO and World Vision GH (NGO)
