Addis Ababa: State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, received German Ambassador-Designate to Ethiopia, Jens Hanefeld, at his office today.
During the discussion, the State Minister congratulated Hanefeld on his appointment and wished him success in his future endeavors.
He also briefed the Ambassador-Designate on current affairs including the home-grown economic reforms, national dialogue and transitional justice processes, that are aimed at ultimately realizing peace and prosperity in the country.
The State Minister also discussed regional issues of peace and stability and expressed Ethiopia’s continued commitment to regional peace, security and development to realize its national interest and shared aspirations.
They agreed, during their talks, to closely work to further advance longstanding Ethio-German relations, especially in the areas of economic cooperation.

d and called for scaling up the strategic partnership through political consultations and joint ministerial commissions.
Ambassador Hanefeld, on his part, commended the raft of economic reforms and the twin-pillars of the nationwide peace consolidation process that includes the national dialogue and transitional justice.
He also lauded Ethiopia’s active and continued role in the maintenance regional peace and stability including, in the fight against Al Shabaab.
Hanefeld conveyed his commitment to elevating the diplomatic relations not only in the political sphere but also in the areas of trade and investment, according to Foreign Ministry.
