NDC’s ‘Enough is Enough’ protest against EC underway in Accra

The National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) nationwide ‘Enough is Enough’ protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) is underway in Accra.

The party is protesting the EC’s refusal to allow a forensic audit of the voters’ register ahead of the December elections, citing inconsistencies in the list.

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairperson of the NDC, announced the protest on Monday, September 9, citing the party’s reservations over the EC’s handling of the election process.

He also expressed concerns about transparency, citing a lack of updates on investigations into the theft of some Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs).

Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, said the police was on standby to protect lives and property.

She said the police would ensure a peaceful march.

‘We are committed to ensure that the demonstrations and all here are safe throughout the exercise. As we expressed in our communique yesterday, we will ensure peace and
order throughout the demonstrations nationwide,’ she added.
